Hourly Respite services provide relief to individuals who are responsible for the primary care and support of individuals with disabilities. Families utilize this service to ensure the needs of their loved ones are met while tending to other obligations. Many individuals who receive this service often have opportunities to participate in fun recreation and social activities within the community in small group settings and the service is offered seven days a week.
To be eligible for services, one must have a life-long disability which occurred before the age of 22 of which include diagnoses such as Intellectual Disabilities and other Developmental Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Learning Disabilities, Autism, and other Neurological Impairments.
The primary diagnosis must be "Intellectually/Developmentally Disabled" as defined by OPWDD.
Cost: None to Medicaid eligible individuals.
The individual's primary residence must be with the natural family, legal guardian or advocate. Individuals must also be a resident of Clinton, Franklin, Essex, Jefferson or St. Lawrence Counties. This service can be accessed by completing a referral packet and application.
